Flurry Of Last Minute Comments
Comments on the proposed rules issued by the Liquor Control Board, LCB, for implementation of I-502, Washington’s recreational cannabis use law were light right up until the weekend and today, Monday. Then the mailbag hit the office.
In a prepared statement, LCB director Rick Garza said today, “Keeping with our goal of an open and transparent process for drafting the rules, we’re going to take an additional two weeks to consider the last-minute input we’ve received. The Board was prepared to issue the rules on June 19. However, it’s our responsibility to carefully review and consider the comments we received.”
More Time To Go Over Recent Input
Two more weeks of consideration is now incorporated in the LCB’s new timeline. Cannabis Wire has received numerous contacts from disappointed hopeful licensees questioning whether the LCB is serious about any control of production, processing (tracking) and retailing of the recreational cannabis. A request has been made for copies of the recent input to the LCB about the proposed rules. The next two weeks should reveal the distinct differences between the approach preferred by Washington’s existing MMJ community and the newly emerging, larger, more centralized operators.
