Support The Wire

Want to join the team?

We are looking to add some strikingly smart talent to our team at the Washington State Wire – and we’d love to hear from you if you’re interested!

We have an opening for an Olympia-based reporter to cover the legislature, state agencies, and some of the general politics of Washington State.

The position would also report on health policy for State of Reform as part of that outlet’s West Coast edition. The person would also have a role in curating interesting stories and speakers for our conferences at both outlets.

You see, Washington State Wire and its sister site, State of Reform, are both entirely funded through a crowd-sourced revenue model. It comes in the form of sponsorship and registration at our annual conferences.

That means we aren’t dependent on “click bait” or breathless headlines to try to grab your attention in order to drive revenue. It means we can be more thoughtful and more careful with our stories and commentary.

It also means we take a lot of care to connect our content and coverage to our community. The success of our conferences directly support our content, and so it’s important that we’re mindful of the needs and interests of the community that supports us.

So, if you’re interested in joining our team, take a look at the job description. See what you think, and drop us a note if you’re interested.

We’re looking forward to the discussion.
