Nelson: New Senate Majority will put people before politics

Senate Democratic Leader Sharon Nelson released the statement below following the election of Manka Dhingra Tuesday night and a change in the majority in the Washington State Senate:

“In an election about contrasting values, voters in the 45th made it clear where they stand. They stood up for what Washingtonians across our state demand and deserve – access to jobs, health care, education, fair elections, a healthy environment and good government. They voted in favor of equity and collaboration, and against divisive D.C.-style politics.

“Our new majority will work hard every single day to build a better Washington that offers opportunity and a voice to every single person in this state.

“And of course a big congratulations to Sen.-elect Manka Dhingra on a hard fought and well earned victory. The people of the 45th and our state as a whole are gaining a dedicated and talented public servant.”
