Legislative race primary results

Here are the certified election results for the August 1st state legislative primary races. Republicans and Democrats each had the lead in four of the eight primary races, but only one of the Democratic leads was over a Republican candidate, with two leads over Libertarian candidates and one candidate unopposed. Interestingly, 11 of the 15 candidates are women. In 2016, Washington’s legislature was 34 percent women, among the highest in the nation.

  • Michelle Rylands – Democrat, 41.56%

  • Morgan Irwin – Republican, 57.01%
  • Nate Lowry – Democrat, 42.99%

  • Michelle Darnell – Libertarian, 22.97%
