House Dems name leadership team for 2021-2023

The House Democrats held their re-organization meeting over the weekend.

They re-elected Laurie Jinkins as Speaker-designate and Pat Sullivan as Majority Leader.

Jinkins will need a formal vote by the full House chamber to be named Speaker.

Lillian Ortiz-Self was elected the Caucus Chair, stepping in for the longtime chair, retiring Eric Pettigrew. She is the only change from 2019-2020 in the House Dems leadership lineup.

Ortiz-Self is the first Latina to hold this position in the State of Washington.

Monica Stonier will remain as Majority Floor Leader.

Marcus Riccelli will be the Majority Whip.

Tina Orwall is the Speaker Pro Tem and John Lovick will serve as Deputy Speaker Pro Tem. Both will be affirmed during a full House vote in January.
