Good News, We Are Only, About, Kind Of $1.4 B Short

It Is Comforting To be A Little Off, If It’s True

People should admit when they are off the mark, and other people should be honest about long term trends in revenue for the state.

I was $400 million off in my guess about the state forecast. Earlier this week I should not have looked at the US Dept. of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis http://www.bea.gov/national/consumer_spending.htm. I should not have tracked consumer confidence, CPI, durable goods sales projections, car and truck sales projections and the real stuff that makes up our real, new economy.

That’ll teach me to go get all internetted up on a bunch of real numbers about personal money being spent by real people.

I hope I’m wrong. $1.8 B short is tragic, $1.4 is a disaster, the options are still the same: cut spending, add revenue, or a combination…
