Former State Rep. Tom Huff, R-Gig Harbor, died Sunday morning from advanced pulmonary fibrosis. A former House Appropriations chairman, Huff represented the 26th Legislative District from 1995

to 2000. Even in retirement Tom was often called on as a senior statesman in the Republican Party: In 2011-12 he served with former U.S. Sen. Slade Gorton as a Republican commissioner on the Washington State Redistricting Commission.

Huff was a senior executive with Sears and in 1987 led the effort to create the Washington Retail Association, serving as its first chairman of the board.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann and children, Sue, Greg, Don, and Joel.
