Bernie 2020 Releases First Washington TV Ad

Bernie 2020 today will launch its first TV ad in Washington. The ad features Rep. Pramila Jayapal, the Washington State Chair and Health Policy Chair for Bernie 2020. Jayapal represents Washington’s Seventh Congressional District, which encompasses most of Seattle and surrounding areas, including Vashon Island, Lake Forest Park, Edmonds and parts of Burien, Shoreline and Normandy Park.

Ballots have already been mailed to voters in Washington state, so it’s crucial that we get out the word about the importance of our state’s primary, and what is at stake in this election,” said Jayapal. “On March 10, Washington state voters have an opportunity to show the strength of our multigenerational, multiracial movement supporting Bernie Sanders — and fighting for the inclusive and just America we all deserve.”

The campaign will run, “Pramila,” which is narrated by Rep. Jayapal and highlights how Sanders has always fought for working people. “He doesn’t put his finger up in the air and try to figure out which way the polls are blowing,” Jayapal says in the ad. “He just fights for what he believes in.”

The ad features footage from Sanders’ rally in Tacoma, which over 17,000 people attended and was the largest rally any presidential candidate has held in Washington this cycle.  The ad was produced entirely in-house by Bernie 2020 staff.

The full ad, “Pramila,” can be seen here and the transcript is below:

The system is corrupted by big corporations who think that they can buy an election.

Bernie is supported by regular working people who put just a buck or two in.

He doesn’t put his finger up in the air and try to figure out which way the polls are blowing. He just fights for what he believes in.

This is a man who understands what it’s going to take to actually move these ideas forward. And I trust him to fight for all of us in spite of it being hard.

I’m Bernie Sanders and I approve this message.”
