State Audits Identify Another Repeat Offender

Last week’s State Auditor report revealed still one more public entity that just can’t seem to get its act together. Public Utility District No. 1 of Wahkiakum County, which was found to have inadequate internal controls over financial reporting during audits in 2008 and 2009, has again been cited in a new audit. “We identified significant deficiencies in controls that could adversely affect the District’s ability to produce reliable and accurate financial statements.”

A new financial audit also found that Olympia School District No. 111’s internal controls were inadequate to ensure it maintained appropriate time and effort records to support payroll costs.
