“Jobs and Education” Highlight 2nd District Annual Salmon Bake
The Wilcox Farm just outside of Yelm, Washington, was the scene on Saturday of the 2nd Legislative District 2nd Annual Salmon Bake. The overflow Republican event was hosted by the “strongest legislative team in Olympia,” Sen. Randi Becker, Rep. J.T. Wilcox, and Rep. Gary Alexander. All three agreed that regardless of economic status, voters want to talk two issues, jobs and education.
The Republicans continue to emphasize the need for balanced budgets with education at the head of the line. And point to the lack of progress in education over the last 28 years of Democrat governors.
Sen. Becker faces a challenge in her race for a second term. Rep. Wilcox is also running for a second term but, unusual for a new legislator, is unopposed. Rep. Alexander is a veteran, but redistricting moved him from the 20th to the 2nd District, and so he too faces a challenger.
