Business leaders gather to lay out new framework

pic-plan-waWhile legislative session is in full swing, over 100 business leaders are gathering this Thursday in Seattle to discuss policy and industry initiatives well into the future. The Washington Business Alliance will present the first version of its Plan Washington strategic framework. The event is sold-out, however space may still be available by contacting the organization directly. The plan itself is modeled after the Oregon Business Plan, a project overseen by the Oregon Business Council. The Oregon Business Plan is credited with helping to better coordinate business community legislative action in the state.

Plan Washington will cover topics in economic development, education, environment, health, governance, and transportation. After a brief overview of the plan and its accompanying website, participants will break into issue focused groups to discuss strategies and potential actions.

WaBA co-founder and board chairman David Giuliani said, “What makes our approach different and likely to succeed? We’ll drive from the bottom-up, engage deeply with the private and public sectors, focus long term beyond political expediency, empower implementers, and be fully transparent in process and impact. This work is so important that I’ve made it my major focus.”
