Bipartisanship as Climate Workgroup Selects Consultant

Governor Inslee departs at the end of the CLEW meeting.

Gov. Inslee departs at the end of the CLEW meeting.

On Tuesday the new Climate Legislative and Executive Workgroup (CLEW) met in Olympia to select a consultant who will evaluate options for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Washington state. Members of the workgroup interviewed the top five bidders and then selected the winner. Republicans agreed with the governor’s choices for the top two bidders, but would not support a motion to select his top choice, ICF. Instead the Republicans voted for his second choice, SAIC, and to the credit of the governor and Rep. Fitzgibbon, SAIC received the required four votes.

The workgroup then opened a discussion on revisions to the scope of work, but required more information and adjourned after agreeing to meet again on Wednesday.
